A way of hyping up this year’s International Series

Over the course of the last few years, it’s become a bit of a thing for NFL teams to announce some of their Day 3 draft picks from different locations that are connected to the team in some way. For this year’s NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings plan to carry on this tradition from a place that’s never seen it done before.

The Vikings have announced that one of their Day 3 picks. . .and they haven’t specified which one. . .will be announced from the site of Stonehenge in Wiltshire in the United Kingdom.

Naturally, this is being done in conjunction with the Vikings being one of the teams set to “host” an International Series game this coming season. The Vikings will play one of their nine home games this season at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, their second trip across the pond in the last three seasons. In 2022, they served as the road team in a victory over the New Orleans Saints at the same venue.

As it stands now, the Vikings currently have seven picks on Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, two of them in every round except the sixth. Wherever they wind up picking in the final stages of this year’s selection meeting, one of the young men that will be selected will hear their name called from a place that was originally used as a burial ground going as far back as five thousand years ago.

I mean, you can read into that last part whatever you want, but whoever it is certainly won’t forget the day they heard their name called by the Vikings.
