LB swap

The Washington Commanders made it official today, and activated LB Cody Barton from injured reserve. He suffered an ankle injury in a Week 7 loss to the New York Giants. Ron Rivera told the media yesterday that Barton would be activated today, and he was ready to get back to the action on the field. Barton has missed the required four games for short-term injured reserve, and has been added to the Commanders 53-man roster.

That means Washington needed to make a roster move, and LB De’Jon Harris will replace Barton on IR. He hasn’t practiced this week and was listed with a quad injury. Harris has been used exclusively on special teams since being signed to the active roster in early October.

Washington also announced that they have elevated two players from the practice squad for tomorrow’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. DE Joshua Pryor will get his second chance in a row to play in an NFL game. He was elevated last week due to James Smith-Williams’ hamstring injury(that will force him to miss the Cowboys game. Efe Obada suffered multiple leg fractures on Sunday, and was placed on season-ending IR, further depleting Washington’s defensive line. Ron Rivera mentioned Pryor as a player that would get more opportunities due to injuries(and trades). The Commanders also signed DE Jalen Harris from the Chicago Bears practice squad.

Derrick Gore was elevated from the practice quad last week with RB Antonio Gibson(toe) and FB/TE Alex Armah(hamstring) inactive. He only had two carries during his three snaps on offense. Jonathan Williams gets the call this week with Armah out again, and Gibson questionable.
