Watch J.J. McCarthy get the call from the Vikings

One of the highlights of any Draft weekend in the NFL comes from the teams releasing the footage of each of their draftees getting the biggest phone call of their lives from the team’s front office. While I’m sure the Minnesota Vikings will release footage of all of their draftees getting the call sometime after the 2024 NFL Draft is over, we already have footage of their first selection getting his notification.

Earlier this morning, the Vikings released their video of Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell talking to Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy when they made him the 10th pick on Thursday night.

While it’s nice to get this perspective, we’ve also gotten the view from McCarthy’s side of the phone, courtesy of the University of Michigan. You see him hanging up the phone when the conversation is over and celebrating with the people around him at his Draft gathering and then putting the Vikings’ draft cap on.

Man, look at the smile on that kid’s face, would you?

It’s always great to see moments like this, particularly from a player that’s hopefully going to be the face of your franchise for many, many years to come.

When the Vikings do their annual video of all their contacts we’ll make sure to share it with you. For now, however, we wanted to give you this footage now that it’s out there.
