Nick Bosa a silver lining in dreary 49ers loss

Not a lot of things went right for the 49ers in the NFC championship game, but Nick Bosa’s performance offered one silver lining for San Francisco.

The third-year defensive end shined on a night where the 49ers’ pass rush was mostly quiet thanks to an effective quick passing game from the Rams. Bosa walked out of the loss at SoFi Stadium with six tackles, two tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and 1.5 sacks.

Bosa’s 1.5 sacks put him at 8.0 for his playoff career. That’s the most by a 49ers player in postseason history. He surpassed Charles Haley, who had 7.5 postseason sacks for San Francisco.

Perhaps the most impressive part about Bosa’s sack number is that he needed only six games to get there. His 8.0 are the third most through six playoff games in NFL history. Only Steelers DL Lamarr Woodley (10.0) and Bears DL Richard Dent (9.5) had more through their first six playoff games.

The 49ers took a bad loss Sunday, but Bosa’s continued strong performances in the playoffs are a great sign for the future.
