N’Keal Harry reportedly avoided serious injury against Eagles

The New England Patriots’ 35-0 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night was not as flawless as the final scores makes it seem. One of the main areas of concern for the Patriots was the fact that some of their players suffered injuries. Among them was wide receiver N’Keal Harry, who left the game in the second quarter.

Harry suffered an apparent shoulder injury and was later spotted with his left arm in a sling. However, it seems as if he has dodged a bullet: according to a report by CLNS Media’s Evan Lazar, he “avoided a serious injury” on Thursday and that he “should be good to go by Week 1.”

ESPN’s Adam Schefter later reported that Harry suffered no structural damage and will simply need rest. He is considered week-to-week at this point in time.

The former first-round draft pick remained on the ground after trying to catch a deep throw by quarterback Mac Jones. Harry dove forward in an attempt to make the reception, but the ball slipped through his outstretched arms while he landed hard on his left shoulder. He subsequently left the field for the blue medical tent before eventually departing for the locker room. Harry, who had caught one 19-yard pass at that point, did not return.

While his production during two preseason games against the Eagles and the Washington Football Team is not outstanding — two catches for 23 yards — Harry is in the middle of a strong summer. He looked like the Patriots’ best wide receiver at times in practice, and should be on his way to make the roster.

However, it remains to be seen how his shoulder injury impacts his momentum. Harry is expected to miss some practice time, after all.

The Patriots will have the weekend off before welcoming the New York Giants to Gillette Stadium for a pair of joint practices. The two teams will then meet in their preseason finale next Sunday.

Whether or not Harry participates in any of these events remains to be seen, but Friday’s news are still encouraging.
