Both Rams’ Tyler Higbee and Lions’ Sam LaPorta are in danger of missing NFL wild card

Sam LaPorta is not the only tight end in danger of missing Sunday’s wild card game between the Los Angeles Rams and Detroit Lions. Rams head coach Sean McVay noted in his Friday press conference that Tyler Higbee is questionable to play because of a shoulder injury. If Higbee can’t start, that opens the door for rookie Davis Allen to have a significant role in a very important game.

Higbee caught 47 passes for 495 yards and two touchdowns in 15 games during the regular season. In his last game against the Giants, Higbee had six catches for 62 yards.

In the season finale against the 49ers, Allen had four catches for 25 yards on four targets.

It is still probably more likely that Higbee plays than LaPorta. The rookie, who suffered an ugly knee injury last week, had 889 yards and 10 touchdowns. Head coach Dan Campbell said that the Lions will see how he runs on Friday before making the next decision on his status.
