Injuries piling up in first half of game against Atlanta

The New York Giants have suffered a trio of important injuries so far in Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Giants lost starting inside linebacker Blake Martinez, the team’s leading tackler, with a knee injury on Atlanta’s first possession of the game. Martinez went down without contact while trying to tackle Cordarrelle Patterson of Atlanta. Reggie Ragland took his place.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton suffered a hamstring injury in the first quarter. He was also quickly ruled out.

Midway through the second quarter, veteran wide receiver Sterling Shepard limped to the locker room with a right hamstring injury. He was ruled out.

The losses mean that first-round pick Kadarius Toney is seeing increased playing time. C.J. Board, who has a 38-yard catch, and newly-acquired Collin Johnson are also seeing action.

Stay tuned in the post game as we will have more information on these and any other injuries as soon as it becomes available.
