A PGA Tour golfer used the New York Jets’ starting quarterback as a source of inspiration for his own comeback

One New York Jets player is serving as a source of inspiration for a PGA Tour golfer.

PGA Tour golfer Bernhard Langer tore his Achilles two months ago in March but is set to return to action this weekend.

At 66 years old, it would be one of the most impressive returns from an Achilles injury in modern history. And in pursuit of that return, Langer turned to Jets’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers for advice.

“Yeah, I got his contact information at the Masters and actually from Andy North. A few days later, I was able to talk to him for about 45 minutes. He had the same injury and the same surgery—he just had it done in L.A.,” said Langer.

The golfer also said that he “followed Rodgers’ story” and “was encouraged that he might be able to do something similar.”

Although he never returned in the regular season, it is still extremely impressive how fast Rodgers recovered from his injury.

After tearing his Achilles in Week 1, the future Hall-of-Famer gave himself a chance to return for a possible Jets playoff run in 2023. While New York could not uphold its end, Rodgers defied the odds against him.

Rodgers helped and inspired people in his sport, such as running back J.K. Dobbins.

Now, that influence has expanded well beyond football, reaching a golfer trying to defy the odds in his own recovery.
