NY Jets and Atlanta Falcons to participate in ‘Knapp Stair Climb’

The second year of the “Knapp Stair Climb” will have the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons participate this Sunday

Ahead of their Week 13 matchup, the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons are participating in a great cause.

Started by The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund, both teams will participate in the “Knapp Stair Climb,” honoring Jets and Falcons coach Greg Knapp. The project will have the Jets and the Falcons climbing stairs to raise funds and awareness of the dangers of distracted driving.

It is the project’s second year, with the foundation raising $100,000 dollars in the first year of the stair climb.

In addition to the Jets and Falcons, teams such as the Packers, Saints, Browns, and Texans have pledged to participate in the stair climb. College programs like the University of Michigan and Stanford University have also committed to take on the challenge.

Greg Knapp was a beloved NFL coach for 25 years who was tragically killed by a distracted driver in September 2021.

It is awesome to see the Jets and Falcons and multiple other organizations come together for a common cause. Knapp, who was tragically killed by a distracted driver in 2021, was a beloved coach for multiple different organizations.

He had a personal connection with both the Falcons and the Jets. Knapp served as the offensive coordinator for the Michael Vick-led Falcons from 2004-2006. He then returned to Atlanta in 2018 as the team’s quarterbacks coach.

For the Jets, head coach Robert Saleh hired Knapp as the passing game specialist for the 2021 season. Before his tragic passing that summer, he was set to be one of the primary teachers for rookie quarterback Zach Wilson.

The stair climb is a great way to not only honor the legacy of a beloved coach and person but also raise awareness for the epidemic that is distracted driving.

It only takes one minor distraction for a driver for terrible things to happen, and that was the horrible reality in the situation of Knapp’s passing.

As a result, it is essential for the dangers of distracted driving to be known. By participating in the annual Knapp Stair Climb, the Jets are playing a huge role in raising awareness and funds for the prevention of similar tragedies.
