NY Jets draft film review: Why JC Latham is OT1

JC Latham is a better prospect than the consensus believes

The month of the 2024 NFL Draft has arrived, which means the debates are only getting hotter among New York Jets fans.

One of the biggest debates among Jets fans is which offensive tackle prospect makes the most sense for the team. According to NFL Mock Draft Database, the consensus ranking of the top five OT prospects goes like this: 1) Joe Alt, 2) Olu Fashanu, 3) Taliese Fuaga, 4) JC Latham, and 5) Troy Fautanu.

Alt is projected to be drafted before the Jets’ pick at No. 10, but some fans like him enough to the point where they want to see Joe Douglas trade up for him. If the Jets stay put at No. 10 and Alt is not available, many fans prefer either Fashanu or Fuaga as their favorite OT prospect.

However, not enough fans are talking about Alabama’s JC Latham.

For some reason, Latham does not receive nearly as much hype as the three OT prospects ranked above him. But I think he should.

After thoroughly reviewing Latham’s 2023 film, I came away believing that he is my OT1 at this point in time. That’s subject to change, but as of right now, I think he is the best OT prospect in the 2024 draft class.
