Philadelphia Eagles DT Fletcher Cox trolls New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh with Breece Hall comment

Speaking to the media on Thursday ahead of their Week 6 matchup with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox  couldn’t stop himself from trolling Jets head coach Robert Saleh when asked how the team planned on stopping running back Breece Hall.

“We gotta kiss him 11 times, put 11 helmets on him,” said Cox.

Cox’s comment is a reference to Saleh’s comments about the Eagles’ infamous “tush push” play when speaking to the media on Wednesday.

“We’re gonna do our best to try to stop it.” Saleh said to SNY. “But if the quarterback carries the ball, we’ve gotta give him 11 kisses, and just figure out a way to do that.”

Saleh expressed that the Jets had a plan to stop the play that involves quarterback Jalen Hurts running a quarterback sneak with multiple players behind him pushing him forward. While Saleh wouldn’t divulge what exactly the Jets were going to do to stop Hurts and the Eagles, he didn’t hesitate to suggest that the team was going to play aggressively.

Cox stopped short of saying the Eagles defense is great at stopping the run, noting that, “[we] do an okay job stopping the run. We take a lot of pride in it and [are] looking forward [to it].” The Eagles are currently giving up the fewest rushing yards in the NFL, allowing an average of 61.2 yards per game.

For the Jets, making sure Hall gets going is imperative.

The second-year running back showed his home-run capabilities in Week 5, compiling 194 all-purpose yards on 25 touches en route to the Jets’ 31-21 win against the Denver Broncos. Hall having success on the ground alleviates pressure from the Jets offense, and more importantly, third-year quarterback Zach Wilson.

If the Jets aren’t able to get Hall going early in Week 6 against the Eagles, the likelihood of Gang Green ending their winless record against Philadelphia is slim-to-none.
