Poor technique, lapses in concentration, and baffling play-calling are leading to terrible offensive results for the New York Jets
New week, same story for the New York Jets.
Once again, Robert Saleh’s team took the field on prime time against an opponent with a losing record and played well defensively, but the Jets fell short because of an anemic offense that failed to score a touchdown.
When reviewing the film, a myriad of issues related to technique, decision-making, concentration, and play-calling all come to light as the primary reasons why the Jets committed so many back-breaking errors on offense.
Zach Wilson played another subpar game, although he did have some good moments, including a few good passes that were dropped. In addition, the unit around Wilson did not make his life easy.
Allen Lazard continues to struggle mightily as the Jets’ WR2, showing poor catching technique and lackluster route-running. C.J. Uzomah added to his case to be benched with two killer penalties and a lack of impact in the passing game.
Offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is being dealt a tough hand, but he’s not doing himself or his players any favors with his uncreative play calling, poor situational awareness, and questionable play designs.
As per usual, the Jets’ zero-touchdown performance was not the fault of one person. Many people were at fault. In this episode, we dig through the details behind some of the Jets’ biggest offensive errors to figure out how they can be erased going forward.
- What is Nathaniel Hackett’s role in the Jets’ terrible offense?
- Is Zach Wilson being overrated or underrated by fans?
- How is the depleted offensive line playing?
- What can the Jets do at wide receiver?
All of this and much more is discussed in this week’s edition of Blewett’s Blitz.
