Haason Reddick expressed excitement for the New York Jets in 2024

The newest addition to the New York Jets is looking forward to taking the field in 2024.

At his Monday media availability, edge rusher Haason Reddick spoke about his excitement over joining the Jets. New York acquired him in a trade with the Eagles last week.

“The news itself, I was happy to hear it. It’s a new beginning, a new chapter for me,” Reddick commented. “I get to come here and be around some great players, some guys that have made some great names for themselves, especially on the defensive side of the ball.”

He added, “I’m happy; I’m looking forward to it. I’m looking forward to getting out there in front of the fans and showing what I have to bring as an asset to the team.”

The Temple product spoke about his departure from the Eagles, saying he feels he “has a lot left in the tank.” He clarified that the trade was not performance-based. “It wasn’t about what I have left in the tank or anything like that. It’s a business, and sometimes hard decisions need to be made, even if you don’t like them,” he remarked.

Regarding the Jets’ defense, the edge rusher said the team has “dogs” at each level. “It’s going to be fun, man. I don’t think anybody is ready for what is about to happen,” he said.

Additionally, Reddick mentioned fellow edge rusher Will McDonald as a player he thinks he could help “a lot.”

“Talked to (Ulbrich) about him earlier, just learning a lot about him as a person and some of the things that he went through. My path to get here wasn’t easy as well, and I won’t compare it to his,” Reddick explained. “But being a veteran, being someone that has had success in this league, there’s a lot of knowledge to give to the younger guys. And that’s what I’m here to do.”

Reddick’s addition is great for the current iteration of the Jets’ defense. With his speed and edge production, he will thrive alongside Quinnen Willams, Jermaine Johnson, and John Franklin-Myers.

Aaron Rodgers’s return means the Jets should have some leads late in games, a luxury the team has not had in recent years. Considering Reddick’s penchant for getting after the quarterback, the veteran could play a significant role on an elite defense.
