Robert Saleh gives updates for injured NY Jets players

Speaking after another crushing loss, the New York Jets’ head coach provided updates on injured players

In a brutal loss to the Falcons on Sunday, the New York Jets did not come out of the game unscathed.

Speaking after the game, Jets head coach Robert Saleh said that tight end C.J. Uzomah was dealing with an MCL injury and that he would know more on Monday.

Defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey suffered a foot injury that Saleh called “really bad,” while wide receiver Jason Brownlee suffered an ankle injury.

Against the Falcons, TE C.J. Uzomah sustained an MCL injury. DT Perrion Winfrey had a foot injury that HC Robert Saleh said is “really bad”.

The Winfrey injury is extremely unfortunate, as Sunday’s game was his first opportunity to see game action for the Jets. The Oklahoma product had a chance to make an impact on the Jets’ defense, but his serious injury means that shot will have to come next year at the earliest.

On offense, the losses of Uzomah and Brownlee are the latest blows to a unit that cannot seem to have anything go their way.

While he has been losing snaps to Jeremy Ruckert and Tyler Conklin, Uzomah is still an important veteran leader for the Jets’ locker room. Brownlee has gained more playing time over the past few weeks as fellow wide receiver Allen Lazard falls down the depth chart. The undrafted rookie from Southern Mississippi possesses good blocking skills and jump-ball potential the Jets have not unlocked yet.

Regardless of these injuries, the Jets offense continues to look broken. No matter the personnel, play-calling, or quarterback, nothing has worked for the team’s offense.
