If Peter Schrager’s success continues, the New York Jets will land an elite weapon at No. 10

The NFL draft is finally here and analysts are releasing their final mock drafts. NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah shared his prediction, which is notable for New York Jets fans because of Jeremiah’s connection to general manager Joe Douglas. Now, another NFL Network analyst has put out a mock that should catch Jets fans’ attention: Peter Schrager.

Schrager is of particular interest to Jets fans because he has correctly predicted five Jets first-round picks in the past five drafts:

  • 2022, No. 4: Sauce Gardner
  • 2022, No. 10: Garrett Wilson
  • 2021, No. 2: Zach Wilson
  • 2020, No. 11: Mekhi Becton
  • 2019, No. 3: Quinnen Williams

He also correctly predicted the Jets would take an edge rusher at No. 15 in 2023, which was an unpopular pick at the time and turned out correct. Schrager didn’t have the right player, predicting Luke Van Ness over Will McDonald IV (although Van Ness was already off the board before New York had a chance to take him, going at No. 13 to Green Bay), but Schrager still was one of the few who predicted an edge rusher in that spot.

So who is Schrager’s pick for 2024?

In his final 2024 mock draft, Schrager has the Jets selecting tight end Brock Bowers. The Georgia star would give Aaron Rodgers another dynamic weapon to bring the Jets’ offense to life. Bowers has been heavily connected to the Jets, so the selection isn’t a surprise. However, it’s surprising that Schrager has the Jets passing on Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt to take Bowers.

Joe Blewett broke down Bowers’ film here and Rivka Boord breaks down his analytics here.

Schrager notes that wide receivers Malik Nabers and Rome Odunze are also in play for the Jets but were already selected in this mock.

While there is no guarantee Schrager will be correct, the odds seem to be in his favor. On picks that weren’t traded on draft day, he’s been correct on five of the Jets’ past six picks.

The speculation finally ends tonight.
