Aaron Rodgers has torn his Achilles, per a report

The worst possible scenario has happened.

Aaron Rodgers, the superstar, future Hall-of-Fame quarterback the New York Jets traded for this offseason, has completely torn his left Achilles, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Rodgers, after all of the offseason hype and excitement he brought to the Jets, ended up taking just four snaps before (most likely) losing his season due to injury. It is a crushing, devastating blow to both the Jets and Rodgers.

For Rodgers, doubt will now be cast over his future playing in the NFL. Achilles tears are extremely difficult to return from, let alone for a quarterback one year from turning 40 years old. Betting against Rodgers is not usually smart, but the odds are stacked against him in a significant manner.

The Jets, after a game they just won, may have seen their Super Bowl chances evaporate. Rodgers gave them the highest ceiling possible on offense, and without him at the helm, their overall success level will now be a question.

Zach Wilson has been announced as the starter going forward, but it would be malpractice if the Jets did not try to add s veteran in some capacity. After all, Wilson’s struggles are the reason the Jets had to add Rodgers in the first place.

The discussions around the Jets’ quarterback position and potential for the season will be constant over the coming weeks. They are discussions worth having, and the decisions the Jets make will ultimately dictate the rest of their season.

For now, it is perfectly okay for Jets fans to wonder what could have been this season with Aaron Rodgers. It is a sad and crushing blow for the team and its fanbase, especially in a season where the hopes for success were so high.
