NY Jets share Saleh/Douglas pre-draft texts about Malachi Corley

The New York Jets’ Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh channeled the film “Draft Day” before selecting Malachi Corley

In pursuit of Malachi Corley, the New York Jets’ Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh channeled the spirit of “Draft Day.”

On their X (formerly Twitter) account, the Jets posted a text message exchange between the two main figures in the organization. Douglas had sent a picture of Corley with the message, “No matter what.” Saleh responded back with the same message.

For those unaware, “No matter what” refers to Sonny Weaver’s post-it note in the movie “Draft Day” that told him to draft Vontae Mack by any means necessary.

The mentality fits nicely for Saleh and Douglas. They have been seemingly locked in on Corley for the entirety of the draft process. This was corroborated by SNY’s Connor Hughes, who said the Jets had Corley as their fourth-rated wideout. He also mentioned that the team tried to trade into the second round for him.

Corley posted on social media and expressed his excitement at Douglas and Saleh’s sustained interest in him.

Even with other players on the board, Corely is the exact type of player the Jets need. He is a yards-after-catch machine and becomes an absolute weapon with the ball in his hands.

He also has the ability to create quick area separation, which will be critical for an offense led by Aaron Rodgers.

Alongside Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, and Mike Williams, Corley is in a great position to contribute immediately for the Jets. If he can bring the elite YAC and separation skill he showed in college, Douglas and Saleh will be proven right in their desire to get him “No matter what.”
