New York Jets are being frequently linked to wide receivers, including a potential blockbuster trade

The draft rumors are heating up, and the New York Jets are heavily involved.

In an article from ESPN’s Dan Graziano and Jeremy Fowler, the Chargers (situated in the No. 5 slot) are mentioned as a team “eager” to trade down. They then mentioned why the Jets would be a legitimate partner for a move.

“One thing to keep in mind: New Chargers GM Joe Hortiz has a long-standing relationship with Jets GM Joe Douglas from their days together in Baltimore. And Douglas, who picks 10th overall, has proven a willing trade partner, though the Jets aren’t hunting for a quarterback and might be less inclined to move,” said Fowler.

Additionally, The Athletic’s Dane Brugler mentioned the Jets in a post about LSU’s Brian Thomas Jr. He said that the receiver could go “as early as No. 10 to NYJ or go 10 picks later.”

While not intrinsically linked, these two reports show that the Jets are not locked into one specific way of thinking for this year’s draft.

They could be aggressive in moving up, content with staying at number 10 overall, or move back in the draft to recoup capital. Whatever route they choose to take, multiple promising players will be available for New York.

Ultimately, it all depends on how the board falls on Thursday night. The Jets cannot control what the teams ahead of them do and will have to act accordingly based on prior selections. It will be extremely interesting to see how the draft plays out for New York tomorrow night.
