Speaking after the team’s Monday night loss, the ESPN broadcaster gave his thoughts on the Jets as a whole.

Troy Aikman is not impressed by the New York Jets.

After the team’s gut-punch loss to the Chargers on Monday night, the Hall-of-Fame quarterback was extremely blunt in his assessment of the Jets.

“For a league where it’s built around offense, they’ve scored two touchdowns in a game one time…I don’t know if they are a good football team. It’s hard to look at them tonight and say that they’re good,” said Aikman.

“They’re great on defense, and I thought the defense was terrific again tonight. But is that a good football team that we watched tonight? No, I don’t think so. I think they’re a bad team with a great defense… I didn’t see anything tonight that suggests they’re a playoff team.”

As harsh as the criticism is from the former Cowboys quarterback, he is not wrong in his assessment.

The Jets’ offense has been, to put it lightly, abysmal. They have eight total offensive touchdowns on the season. Their third-down conversion percentage is 23%, considerably worse than the next-worst team at 31.7%. It is on pace to be the NFL’s worst mark in 45 years.

Zach Wilson, despite some signs of progress, is still making the same mistakes he has made in his first two seasons. The play-calling is highly suspect from Nathaniel Hackett, the other weapons outside of Garrett Wilson struggle to get open, and the offensive line has struggled to hold up.

Combine all of these factors together while adding in some turnovers, and you get an offense that could not score a touchdown against one of the worst defenses in the league.

While Jets fans may want to believe that Aikman is wrong, the facts are that the Jets are not a good team right now. Unless their offense turns things around, the Jets are, at best, a decent team that has an amazing defense and a catastrophically bad offense that holds them back.
