Oklahoma DL Perrion Winfrey visited the Jags on Friday

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t just get visits from Alabama standouts Christian Harris and Evan Neal and one from Colorado State’s Trey Mcbride, but they also had a standout from the Big-12 in the building. That player was Oklahoma defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey.

On Friday, Winfrey posted a picture on his Instagram story from inside TIAA Bank Field. Blue Wire Podcast host Billy Marshall posted a screenshot of the picture Winfrey took on his trip as he seems to be making visits before the 2022 NFL Draft.

Winfrey, 21, started his collegiate career at Iowa Western Community College before committing to the Sooners after two seasons. He was quite productive during his time in junior college, which resulted in him being named the top prospect on that level by 247Sports.com.

While with the Sooners, Winfrey started in 20 games and played in 23. He was able to garner 42 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, and six sacks along the way. According to Pro Football Focus, the two-time Big 12 second-teamer accumulated grades of 59.7 and 71.3, respectively, in 2020 and 2021 with the Sooners.

As his stats indicate, Winfrey was good at penetrating the offensive line and stopping plays in the backfield. That’s something the Jags could use more of after finishing the season ranked with the No. 20 ranked defense, and No. 23 ranked rush defense.

Winfrey has caught the eyes of scouts after having a solid performance at the Senior Bowl. After impressing in practice, he also was able to earn the Senior Bowl MVP Award at the end of the game after accumulating two sacks and three tackles for loss.

Winfrey’s drat stock varies depending on who is asked. Some have him coming off the board late in Day 1. Mock Draft Database has a second-round grade on him. Then lastly, PFF has him down as an early Day 3 pick.

That said, he might go somewhere in the middle of those projections, which could point to him being a Day 2 selection when the draft process is over.
