According to a report, the NFL only sent out 16 invites for prospects to attend in person.

According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the NFL only wanted a maximum of 15 prospects in the green room for the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit. Assuming that the trend continues next season, that means that there will likely be a small room of players available for television shots when the draft eventually travels to Green Bay for the 2025 draft.

Per Florio, the NFL actually invited 16 players, though, as Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt, Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy decided to celebrate with their families at a location closer to home on draft day.

So who is going to be in person for the draft? The list of 13 prospects who accepted their invites can be found below:

  • Caleb Williams, QB, USC (#1 on the consensus draft board)
  • Drake Maye, QB, North Carolina (#2)
  • Marvin Harrison Jr., WR, Ohio State (#3)
  • Jayden Daniels, QB, LSU (#4)
  • Malik Nabers, WR, LSU (#5)
  • Rome Odunze, WR, Washington (#7)
  • Dallas Turner, EDGE, Alabama (#8)
  • Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama (#11)
  • Quinyon Mitchell, CB, Toledo (#12)
  • Laiatu Latu, EDGE, UCLA (#16)
  • Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU (#17)
  • J.C. Latham, OL, Alabama (#20)
  • Darius Robinson, EDGE, Missouri (#35)

What’s interesting is that J.C. Latham, currently ranked as the fifth offensive lineman in the draft on the consensus draft board, was invited to the draft but Olu Fashanu (Penn State, #14) and Taliese Fuaga (Oregon State, #15) were not, according to Florio’s reporting. Another notable player missing is Jared Verse, the pass-rusher from Florida State who is ranked 13th on the consensus draft board.

Easily the most surprising prospect to earn an invite for the event is Missouri defensive lineman Darius Robinson, who was an interior player for the Tigers until his breakout season of 2023 — when he earned first-team All-SEC honors as an edge defender. The 6’5”, 285-pounder is currently projected to be a second-round pick, but he went to high school in Canton, Michigan, which is about 30 miles west of downtown Detroit. Presumably, Robinson will be featured as a “homecoming” player of sorts.
