Mockers seem to believe it’s Cooper DeJean or an offensive lineman for the green and gold in the first round.

We’re just over 24 hours away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, which means mock drafts are pummeling us. In an attempt to boil down all the information into one quick read, we’ve compiled all of the recent mock drafts written by notable names in the NFL draft community and/or the local media into one spot.

You’ll quickly notice, once you see the results of these mock drafts, that the Green Bay Packers are essentially being given two options by the prognosticators. Option A is taking defensive back Cooper DeJean, the Iowa product who general manager Brian Gutekunst stated this week that he considers to be both a potential cornerback and safety at the next level. Option B is going with an offensive lineman, which could lead to a reshuffling of the unit after a recent report claimed that the Packers consider right tackle Zach Tom to be a potential Hall-of-Fame center.

This pretty much falls in line with what fans believe will happen on draft day. When we asked our readers who the Packers would take at pick #25, out of realistic options, the top vote-getter was DeJean. Following DeJean were Duke offensive lineman Graham Barton, Washington offensive lineman Troy Fautanu and Oklahoma offensive lineman Tyler Guyton.

Cooper DeJean, DB, Iowa

  • Ben Allbright, KOA
  • Charles Davis, NFL Network
  • Rob Demovsky, ESPN
  • 33rd Team
  • Bucky Brooks, NFL Network
  • Chris Simms, NBC Sports
  • Bill Huber, Sports Illustrated

No one should be surprised if DeJean is the selection in the first round. The safety class is one of the weakest in recent memory and the Packers still have a massive hole next to Xavier McKinney in the secondary. At the moment, the co-starter next to McKinney would probably be second-year seventh-round pick Anthony Johnson Jr. That simply isn’t going to cut it.

The fact that Gutekunst is on record saying that he considers DeJean a safety is pretty notable too, as DeJean never actually played the position at the college level. The former high school linebacker was a slot and an outside cornerback in the Hawkeyes’ zone-heavy scheme.

Amarius Mims, OT, Georgia

  • Jason LaCanfora, The Washington Post
  • Mike Florio, Pro Football Talk
  • Eric Galko, CBS Sports

Jordan Morgan, OL, Arizona

  • Sam Farmer, The Los Angeles Times

Graham Barton, OL, Duke

  • Matt Schneidman, The Athletic

As we mentioned before, Door #2 involves taking an offensive lineman with Green Bay’s first-round pick. Based on our polling, Packers fans don’t seem too excited about the idea of Georgia right tackle Amarius Mims, mostly due to the fact that he’s only started eight games in college football and has had three injuries since the start of the 2023 season — one of which required surgery. Still, Mims is currently winning the race as Green Bay’s Plan B, at least in the minds of draftniks.

Brian Thomas Jr., WR, LSU

  • JR Radcliffe, The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

The only truly non-chalk choice made by either the local media or draft analysts this week was by JR Radcliffe, who picked speedy LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr. for Green Bay. Thomas’ skillset doubles up with what Christian Watson brings to the table. If this were the pick on Thursday, I would assume it means the team would transition away from Watson being a full-time starter, even when healthy.
