9 Green Bay players were estimated to be limited participants for Wednesday’s walkthrough practice.

On Wednesday, the Green Bay Packers held a walkthrough practice, meaning that their participation reports for the first injury report of the wildcard week are simply estimations. With that being said, there was some pretty good news today, as only one player — running back AJ Dillon — was listed as a non-participant estimation.

Dillon has recently been dealing with a thumb injury that has kept him off the field lately. What’s a little concerning going into this week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys is that Green Bay didn’t run the football with a running back other than Aaron Jones last week against the Chicago Bears, a game that Dillon missed. If Dillon doesn’t suit up against Dallas, can the Packers reliably run the football against an average defense with just one back?

Players who were estimated to be limited on Wednesday were cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder/ankle), receiver Romeo Doubs (chest), left guard Elgton Jenkins (knee/ankle), running back Aaron Jones (knee/finger), inside linebacker Isaiah McDuffie (concussion/neck), safety Jonathan Owens (knee), defensive lineman T.J. Slaton (knee/foot), outside linebacker Preston Smith (ankle) and receiver Christian Watson (hamstring). Two bits of positive news here both come from the receiver position. First, the fact that Doubs, who has been described as day-to-day, is limited after being hospitalized and coughing up blood on the sideline versus the Bears is good news. Second, Watson being limited, after he was a non-participant in Friday’s practice, is also positive.

One of the bigger questions entering this week was right tackle Zach Tom’s status. Tom was in and out of the lineup versus Chicago due to a finger injury. He was estimated to be a full participant on Wednesday, which hopefully means that the Packers’ offensive line will have their preferred starters (sans David Bakhtiari) as the team game plans for All-World pass-rusher Micah Parson.

On the Cowboys’ side of the injury report, cornerback Stephon Gilmore (shoulder) was a non-participant in practice and guard Tyler Smith (foot) was listed as a limited participant. Unlike the Packers, Dallas had a full practice instead of a walkthrough on Wednesday.
