The second-year tight end is back after missing most of his rookie year and the first week of training camp.

Slowly but surely, the Green Bay Packers are getting closer to having their full roster available as training camp moves through its second week. On Wednesday, the Packers made one roster move to activate a player from a reserve list, and another move will reportedly be coming on Thursday.

Wednesday’s NFL transaction report saw the team reactivate linebacker Ray Wilborn from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Wilborn landed on that list at the start of camp, and is now eligible to make his training camp debut on Thursday. The Packers signed Wilborn to a futures contract in January of 2021 after the former Ball State Cardinal had spent a portion of the 2020 season on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.

The bigger news, however, is that tight end/H-back Josiah Deguara is expected to make his 2021 practice debut on Thursday. Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports that Deguara has been cleared by the Packers’ medical staff and will be activated off the Physically Unable to Perform list.

The Packers’ 2020 third-round draft pick played in two games last season, starting the opening-week contest in Minnesota and catching one pass for 12 yards in 31 snaps — 24 on offense and seven on special teams. He sat out the next two games with an injury, however, before returning for week four against the Falcons. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL in that game and landed on injured reserve and his rehab from that injury is what kept him on the PUP list to start training camp this fall. Thursday marks exactly ten months since Deguara’s injury on October 5th of last year.

With Deguara and Dominique Dafney both starting camp on the active/PUP list, Green Bay recently signed rookie Daniel Crawford as another option at their “H” tight end position. Dafney played well in limited action last season at that position, but remains on the PUP list with a knee injury.
