Packers vs. Cardinals TNF Game Primer: TV/streaming broadcast details & more

Here is your Game Primer for the Packers’ only Thursday night game this season.

Thank goodness that NFL teams generally only have to play one game per year on Thursday Night Football. For the Green Bay Packers, that game takes place tonight, as they took a long flight on Wednesday to get to the Southwest, where they will meet the Arizona Cardinals this evening.

Both teams head into this game with some major injuries to deal with. The Cardinals will not have the services of defensive end J.J. Watt, who is out with a shoulder injury, and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is questionable with a hamstring issue. The Packers, meanwhile, have both Davante Adams and Allen Lazard on the reserve/COVID-19 list, while several other key contributors are on injured reserve.

This game will also be the first meeting between these two teams since the debacle in 2018 that led to the firing of Mike McCarthy as the Packers’ head coach. That 20-17 Cardinals win at Lambeau Field was the impetus for that move, which shook up the organization and eventually lead to the hiring of Matt LaFleur. Of course, the Packers have had tremendous success under LaFleur in his two-plus seasons, going 13-3 in both 2019 and 2020 and getting off to a 6-1 start this season.
