Just like the rest of the Carolina Panthers faithful, head coach Dave Canales was online for Wednesday’s big move.

This afternoon, the team announced they have agreed to terms with former No. 1 overall pick and three-time Pro Bowler Jadeveon Clowney. Not long after the news dropped, Canales posted the following:

Clowney was born in nearby Rock Hill, S.C. on Valentine’s Day of 1993. He went on to attend South Pointe High School and played three years of college ball at the University of South Carolina.

His homecoming, which will come to the tune of a two-year, $20 million deal, is an important one for Canales and the Panthers—who have been searching for pass-rushing help this offseason. Not only did they just finish dead-last in the league in sacks (27), but Carolina also traded away their top edge defender Brian Burns to the New York Giants.

The 31-year-old is coming off one of the very best campaigns of his 10-year NFL career—having posted 9.5 sacks, his most since 2017, and a career-high 71 pressures for the Baltimore Ravens.
