The right tackle will undergo more evaluation

Amid the loss to the Cincinnati Bengals yesterday was another loss: Patrick Mekari. The right tackle was rolled up on and seen limping off the field before using the handrails to lift himself down toward the locker room on one leg. Reports now indicate Mekari suffered a high-ankle sprain.

This is a significant blow to the Ravens’ offensive line, seeing as Mekari was one of the first players to be moved around after the loss of left tackle Ronnie Stanley after Week 1. Since being moved to right tackle, Mekari has performed more than admirably. Ravens Head Coach John Harbaugh even said he texted Mekari after the Chargers game that he was “spectacular.”

Among the reshuffling, Mekari had been a constant. Now, with him likely out for multiple weeks, the Ravens will need to once again attempt to overcome their injury woes. Thankfully, the team did get back offensive lineman Tyre Phillips who is capable of playing both interior offensive line and swing tackle. Though, it will be hard to replace Mekari, who has been graded as the No. 21 right tackle, according to PFF.
