Former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Bart Scott has been a target for Cincinnati Bengals over the last week and change because of some angry comments he made.

Long story short, Scott was very disgruntled about how the Bengals ran up the score on the Ravens in the Week 16 blowout. So much so, reactions to the outburst went viral for the better part of a week.

A day removed from the Bengals clinching the AFC North with that win over the Kansas City Chiefs, Pro Football Talk’s Peter King finally weighed in on what he calls a “bizarre” rant:

“’We?’ Bart Scott last played for the Ravens 13 years ago. ‘We?’ Is he employed by the Ravens? ‘We?’ How does ESPN feel about one of its employees saying a team he worked for 13 years ago is working to get a coach in the division fired?”

“I actually think Scott is good on TV because he’s not afraid. Some advice for him from someone who never played beyond sixth grade, which is to say, this is advice he’s not going to take: You think it was bush league for Cincinnati to be throwing deep up 20 with two minutes to go against a defense of scrubs for Baltimore? I would probably agree. But this isn’t the Bounty Football League anymore. Nor should it be. And the Ravens, for you, should be one of 32. Not ‘we.’”

It’s a nice capper on the whole saga. Where Scott seemed to take issue with the Bengals torching a Ravens team starting many backups due to injuries, there aren’t really any of those same excuses for the Chiefs after Burrow went for 446 with four scores.

After years of the Bengals struggling, these are growing pains for everyone now that the team’s on pace to host a playoff game and attempt a run at a title.
