PFF Name Jets Third Most Improved Team in 2021

I have a real love/hate relationship with PFF. When they praise the Jets I love them, when they question them, I hate them. I would say that’s a healthy relationship.
Recently PFF released a video where they detailed the five most improved teams this off-season. Now these lists don’t really mean anything, but it’s the start of July and what else do we have to talk about:
“The New York Jets cut ties with Sam Darnold and instead will be rolling with Zach Wilson as their new quarterback of the future,” Sam Monson said. “Wilson had a PFF passing grade over 95 this last season, the highest we’ve ever seen in college.
“Corey Davis was added as a receiving target in free agency fresh off the back of a breakout season in Tennessee in which he ranked top five in yards per route run. The Jets also continued to work on the offensive line, making a trade up in the first round of the draft to grab Alijah Vera-Tucker out of USC, a player that’s allowed three sacks in three seasons.
“On defense, they may have also signed the best edge rusher they’ve had on the roster since John Abraham with Carl Lawson starting to fit into Robert Saleh’s more aggressive defensive front four after notching 64 total pressures last year.”
We’ll only know how improved we are when the games start rolling, but on paper it’s hard to argue that the Jets aren’t one of the more improved teams in the league. Had we made improvements to the cornerback position, I have little doubt that we may have topped this list.
We brought in a widely respected Head Coach who filled his staff with respected/promising assistants. We brought in one of the more dominant pass-rushers in the league last year, drafted a new Quarterback while improving the receiving unit more than any other team improved any single position group.
PFF believes that only two teams improved more than the Jets this off-season, the New England Patriots (which I disagree with) and the Cleveland Browns.
I’m excited about the free-agent class, but I’m more excited about the draft class.
