Phinsider Radio show notes: Digesting Miami Dolphins minicamp, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s “meaningful” performances
2 min readAre we really keeping minicamp stats now?
Phinsider Radio show notes for June 16, 2021.
TUA THREW FIVE INTERCEPTIONS IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE
Was it raining more on Dolphins Twitter or at minicamp?
We even got an Adam Schefter notification about it.
Do these results impact the season in any way? Do we care if it has an impact or do people just want to talk football?
Of course, the pendulum swung the other way in the following practice.
Excellent response from Tagovailoa in 7 on 7, not sure a ball hit the ground the whole drill. Finished up with a rip to DeVante Parker on an in-cut after surveying the field.

There was no Xavien Howard sighting
“I think it’s pretty clear that this is a contract situation, which we’ve talked about internally,” Dolphins head coach Brian Flores said on Tuesday. “That’s what I believe it is and obviously we’ve had discussions and we’ll continue to have those discussions.”
“X’, this is a little bit of a unique situation,” Flores said. “I’m sure you guys all understand this. He was extended and now we’re talking about a renegotiation of an extension, so that’s a little bit different.”
Is this about Byron Jones making more than Howard?
Are we overlooking the fact that Howard can be cut for almost nothing next year and has a history of injures? Could he just be looking for long-term stability?
Dolphins could follow the New England Patriots (again) and just give him more money this year, which was done with Stephon Gilmore. Wouldn’t that have already happened if it was that easy?
