Steelers LB Devin Bush can’t stay out of his own way with his comments

If you recall, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Devin Bush Jr. has had himself some issues with letting his comments paint him in a rather negative light. If can you forgot it or missed it, here is a review of Bush’s tweets from earlier in the offseason and his attempt to deflect blame onto the fans for his bad judgment.

On Monday, Bush spoke to the media after training camp practice and when the subject of the fans and those comments, Bush chose to double down, wondering out loud if those were even real fans. Bush also noted that the Steelers have no control over his personal Twitter.

First off, there are no fans more real than Steelers fans, whether they are being positive or negative. Bush will learn this. If Bush thinks he is bigger than the franchise in the eye of Steeler Nation, he’s going to be disappointed.

As for his comments about social media, it conjures up memories of former Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown and his social media dumpster fires. I don’t want to be an alarmist but given how little Bush has done in his short career, it would be in his best interest to have a veteran like Cam Heyward pull him aside and remind him of the Steeler way. Maybe have him watch Troy Polamalu’s HOF speech for a little inspiration.
