A huge part of why the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to upset the Buffalo Bills on Sunday is because the defense threw the game on their collective shoulders and shut the Bills down. This was due to some struggles on offense due in large part to lots of new pieces.

Head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media and discussed the offensive struggles and he made it clear they went into the game understanding there would be a lack of fluidity on offense and had prepared the defense to shoulder the burden.

This is something that isn’t going to go away any time soon. Pittsburgh trotted out a new offensive line with four new starters including two rookies. Fluidity might be ideal but isn’t something that is going to happen anytime soon. But if Week One was any indication, the defense is ready to carry the load until the offense can keep up.
