Detroit remains on the schneid, for now

The phrase has been used before: “The Lions lost, but not for lack of trying.” For the match against the Los Angeles Rams, that was probably more true than prior; unlike past games, the Detroit Lions took leads, traded blows and pulled out tricks and stops to stay in stride with one of the best teams in the NFL. The narrative of Jared Goff’s and Matthew Stafford’s respective reunions were in full effect.

You can’t cash moral victories in football, and so the Lions still remain seeking their first actual win—which would also be a moral victory, in many respects—and we’re left to break down another mixed performance of good and bad for Detroit on the Pride Of Detroit PODcast.

In many ways, the same story lingers: great hope for the young players, with some key decisions that ended up costing the Lions. But against a team like the Rams, that all gets tested, and we found at least two players proving that the potential is real. While it may have been Goff’s better game, his interception late in the game still broke the camel’s back, and Dan Campbell’s trickeration gets plenty of analysis from the crew.

This PODcast is therapy for another loss, while also discussing where the Lions stand after seven games into the NFL schedule. With the bye week looming, it remains to be seen if they can pick up a win in the near future; but if they can keep playing like they did against Los Angeles, hope and hunger remain high.
