Will the D-line continue to rack up the pressures against a weak Bears O-line?

Last week, the Detroit Lions’ defensive line finally hit their stride, causing constant pressure on Lamar Jackson and sacking him four times. Jackson was rattled and didn’t look as electric as we’re used to seeing him.

Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears’ offensive line are also coming off of a rough game in which the Browns got through nine times to sack the rookie quarterback last week. With Andy Dalton being downgraded to “doubtful” Saturday night, Fields will get his second straight start and the Lions are looking to feast against a patchwork Bears offensive line.

Today’s Question of the Day is…

How many sacks will the Lions get against the Bears today?

My answer: Four or more.

I don’t think the Lions are going to match what the Browns did last week, but I do think they should be able to get a decent amount of pressure and at least as many sacks as they did last week.

Sacks are becoming less meaningful of a stat in the game of football compared to pressures, but with mobile QBs, sometimes you have to ensure that you can bring them down and not just pressure them, so they can’t beat you with their legs. Justin Fields is capable of that.

The Lions don’t have a Myles Garrett on their side, so nine sacks is probably out of the question, but with Romeo Okwara playing out of his mind and the interior looking much improved, this is a perfect matchup for the Lions’ defensive line to continue wreaking havoc in the backfield and hopefully help them squeak out their first win.

What do you think?
