Injury Report

Isaiah Likely Is “Next Man Up”

Last Thursday, the Ravens all but lost tight end Mark Andrews to a season-ending injury, though there’s hope he just may return if they go on a deeper post-season run. This now has second-year tight end Isaiah Likely as the next man up. I asked him about how practice was this week with Andrews absent and him possibly filling in a bigger role.

“Really, I’ve just been trying to major in on the little details, just still understanding that I have a role and just understand that what Lamar [Jackson] needs me to do in terms of if I have to speed up this route, if he wants me to block differently on the edge for him because … I’m no

t going to lie, me and Mark [Andrews] do things different in our own ways,” Likely said. “That’s what makes us human, but [I’m] just still trying to incorporate and blend with the offense.”

What Does the No. 1 Seed Mean? Not Much Right Now

Ravens players and coaches were asked about them being the No. 1 seed in the AFC and if that meant anything to them.

C Tyler Linderbaum: “I think we could [not] care less. What, we’re [11] games in? We’ve got five more to go? Five [or] six more to go? We have a lot of games in front of us, so none of that means anything. We’ve got to go out there and take it one day at a time. We’ve got a big game coming up and a great opponent in the Chargers on Sunday, so that’s what we’re looking forward to.”

Head Coach John Harbaugh: “It’s good. It’s where you want to be at this point, but it doesn’t mean anything until after the last game in terms of playoff seeding. If you get the lead, keep the lead. I guess it means something in that sense. We control a certain amount of our destiny. I don’t know what the tiebreakers would say, but to some degree, we do. Really, we just have to keep winning.”

C Lamar Jackson: “Not really. It’s still a lot of [the] season left to play. It doesn’t really mean anything to me right now.”

OLB Odafe Oweh: “It means something, but obviously we still have some games to go. On any given Sunday, anything can happen, but it’s definitely a good site to see that we’re at the top right now, because of all the work that we’ve put in. We still have some more weeks to go. If it stays like that at the end of the season, then we can celebrate, but there’s still some work to do.”

ILB Patrick Queen: “A little bit, yes. It does, but at the end of the day, if we lose [this week], it doesn’t matter. So, we just have to go in there, handle business, get to 9-3 this weekend and just keep striving to keep that [top] spot.”
