Raiders QB wants to bring his college WR to “the dark side”

Derek Carr is a man on a mission. A Davante Adams mission.

For the second time in a couple of weeks, the Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback made strong comments about his dream to play again with Adams, his college teammate at Fresno State.

This time, Carr gave his hot take on Cris Collinsworth’s podcast. doubling down on his desire to reunite with Adams. These comments were stronger than his first … even offering to buy him a car if he came to play for the Raiders!

“Davante, he’s one of my best friends. I’m gonna offer him whatever I gotta offer. I’ll buy him a car, whatever I’ve got to do I’ll offer that man. I know he would fit in great with the receivers we have here. He would fit so well in that room.

“I’m allowed to say those things. Our organization isn’t, but I’m going to say it. He’s my best friend, I think he’s one of the best — he’s the best receiver in the NFL … He’s focused on being a Packer and I know that because I see how he works. I know how he works and I know how much it means to him. He’s focused on that and I’m focused on trying to get to the Super Bowl, win the Super Bowl, hopefully he’s in it so I can beat his butt too. That’s the plan, then recruit him over to the dark side.”

Adams is set to be a free agent next year. However, he and the Green Bay Packers have plenty of time to figure out a new contract and the Packers could always give him the franchise tag. So the chances of Adams actually being a free agent next March aren’t very likely.

I had some thoughts on what might be part of Carr’s motivation on Twitter this morning.

Again, I wouldn’t blame Carr if he was having some fun with this. He deserves it.
