This seems to be a pretty good week for NFC champions from 2003.

One day after former Carolina Panthers linebacker Dan Morgan was introduced as the organization’s president of football operations and general manager, former Carolina Panthers running back DeShaun Foster is reportedly set to be hired by the Las Vegas Raiders as their running backs coach. NFL Network insider Mike Garofolo was first with the news on Friday afternoon.

Foster, a Charlotte, N.C. native, was drafted by his hometown Panthers in the second round of the 2002 NFL draft. He’d go on to play five seasons in Carolina—rushing for a combined 3,336 yards and ten touchdowns between 2003 and 2007.

After closing up his playing career in 2009, the UCLA product rejoined his alma mater as an undergraduate assistant beginning in 2012. He’d also serve as a graduate assistant (2014 to 2015) and running backs coach for the Bruins (2017 to 2023), with a one-year stop as Texas Tech University’s running backs coach (2016) sandwiched in.
