Two teams with disappointing seasons will try to get a win on Monday Night Football

The Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers both came into the season with Super Bowl aspirations after consistent postseason appearances. While things have fallen apart for both teams, each will have the opportunity to for some cheer leading into their holiday matchups.

The Rams are coming off a thrilling win against Las Vegas in an ending that came straight out of a Hollywood script. Baker Mayfield had just flown into LA and was able to orchestrate a game-winning drive to lift the Rams to a 17-16 victory. Mayfield has had a bit more time to prepare for his game and needed every bit of that time. The Packers are third in passing yards allowed per game and are top half in the league in passing touchdowns allowed per game.

The Packers had plenty of storylines throughout the previous offseason and will have plenty again after a disappointing 2022 season. The Packers are sitting at 5-8 coming off of the bye week and while not officially eliminated, are a long shot to make the postseason this year. The Packers last missed the playoffs in 2018 and only twice in the last decade. After four seasons in a row throwing for more than 4,000 yards, Aaron Rodgers has seen a sharp decline. With 2,864 yards and 22 touchdowns on the year, Rodgers has not had the MVP-like success that everyone is accustomed to in Green Bay. While there was bound to be some regression without Devante Adams, there may be a bit of hope. Christian Watson has stepped up over the past month. With seven touchdowns in the last four games, the relationship seems to be trending in the right direction to build some momentum for next season.
