The Rams have made a first round pick and his name is Jared Verse

A very common mock draft pick that turned out to be correct, with the 19th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft the Los Angeles Rams selected Florida State edge rusher Jared Verse. Originally a recruit at Albanay with zero stars coming out of high school, Verse put on 40 lbs during the pandemic as he transitioned from tight end to defensive end and he became an instant superstar.

Verse transferred to Florida State in 2022 and was just as dominant against ACC competition, putting him into the first round conversation a year ago. Verse opted to return to Florida State for another year and didn’t hurt his draft stock as he is now a top-20 pick with the Rams. It is the first time since Jared Goff in 2016 that the Rams made a first round pick and the first time since 2015 that Les Snead didn’t trade his first round pick.

On the Rams

With the Rams, Verse should immediately start to compete opposite of Byron Young and to give Michael Hoecht more rest than he had last year. With the loss of Aaron Donald to retirement, Verse will be counted on as an integral player tasked with replacing a little bit of that production. L.A. has a new defensive coordinator in Chris Shula and high expectations going into the 2024 season after making the playoffs last year. So Verse will play a role early in his career to help contribute unless something goes wrong.
