Rams injury report: RB Sony Michel questionable, but expected to play vs. Lions

The Rams are incredibly healthy, because why not.

The Detroit Lions’ Week 7 opponent, the Los Angeles Rams, have declared their injury designations, and they are incredibly healthy with only one injured player, running back Sony Michel.

Let’s take a look at the Rams’ injury report, with the starters bolded.

Placed on Injured Reserve this week

• TE Johnny Mundt (ACL)
• RB Jake Funk (hamstring)

Mundt was the Rams’ top reserve tight end and was a balanced option on offense contributing in both the pass and run game. His torn ACL will end his season.

Funk is primarily a special teams player but he was also the Rams’ third running back. With him not an option out of the backfield, L.A. had to sign Buddy Howell as a replacement, though he is not expected to cut into the workload of Darrell Henderson Jr. or Sony Michel—even with Michel injured.

Questionable

• RB Sony Michel (shoulder)

While Michel is banged up, he only missed practice on Wednesday and got in limited work the rest of the week. He is expected to be available to suit up against the Lions on Sunday.

“We’re fairly healthy injury-wise,” Rams’ coach Sean McVay said on Wednesday. “We’ll hold out Sony Michel today with his shoulder, but don’t expect that to affect his game status.”

No injury designation

• LT Andrew Whitworth (rest)
• WR DeSean Jackson (rest)
• EDGE (WILL) Terrell Lewis (rest)
• C Brian Allen (illness)

Whitworth and Lewis were listed on the injury report for rest on Wednesday, but both were able to return to practice in full later in the week and do not carry an injury designation into this weekend’s game.

Allen practice Wednesday, fell ill on Thursday and did not practice, but was back on the field on Friday and is expected to start at center for the Rams against the Lions.
