Unfortunate news for the rookie out of Notre Dame

The injury bug seems to be biting the Los Angeles Rams early this year but thankfully none seem to be too serious. On Wednesday the team gave updates on all players who are currently injured.

Ben Skowronek fractured his forearm early during the LA Rams first preseason game against the Chargers. He underwent successful surgery to repair it this past Monday and per head coach Sean McVay he is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. This is unfortunate news for the rookie as the LA Rams are deep at the wide receiver position as it is and a full preseason would have been extremely beneficial to him.

The Rams drafted Skowronek with the 249th pick in the seventh round. Although he was drafted so late, the team and fans had high hopes for the rookie wide receiver as his talent was evident. He has such reliable hands and such as WR/TE Jacob Harris he can high point the ball with the best of them.

The offensive staff will probably only keep six wideouts on the 53-man roster and with Trishton Jackson taking full advantage of his opportunities in the preseason as well as training camp, he is probably in line to be that sixth receiver for the team. The staff has a tough decision on the horizon with what to do with Skowronek ahead. Will they waive him and try and get him back on the practice squad or should they place him on the injured reserve? Soon enough, we’ll get that answer.

When it comes to outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, he left practice on Tuesday due to an ankle injury. Good news from that front came from McVay Wednesday as he stated “Leonard is going to be okay”. Seems to be that they’re just being extra cautious with him as he’s a key piece to that defensive line.

Cornerback Robert Rochell was out there practicing in the Rams-Raiders joint practice Wednesday while wearing a non-contact red jersey. He was wearing a club on his wrist but still managed to intercept quarterback Marcus Mariota in practice. The young cornerback continues to impress.

Safety Nick Scott, WR Trishton Jackson, and OLB Terrell Lewis did not practice today but were seen on the exercise bikes this morning. Scott and Jackson are expected to be back soon while the mystery with Terrell Lewis and his knee lingers longer. Lewis could be a surprise candidate on the roster bubble as his knee issues continue to keep acting up.
