The Los Angeles Rams came out on top against the Indianapolis Colts in a game that was not polished but got the W nonetheless. The match featured two defensive red zone stops, two touchdowns by Cooper Kupp, and a flubbed special teams play that resulted in a gimme touchdown for the Colts.

Here are three takeaways from Rams vs Colts week two:

COOPER KUPP IS A DOG

Kupp had two touchdowns catches and a total of 163 yards receiving in the game. He had a nice catch and run on a screen and a longest reception of 44 yards. He continues to demonstrate mastery of the scheme and defensive coverages by being in the right spot at the right time and seems to be in sync with quarterback Matthew Stafford. After two games, he is well on track for a 1,000 yard season.

RED ZONE DEFENSE IS STRONG

The game started with a drive that had the Colts offense taking four attempts from the Rams one yard line and failing. The first three attempts were runs up the middle and the fourth attempt resulted in a Leonard Floyd sack. On a second red zone visit the result was an interception from Troy Reeder on a shuffle pass from Carson Wentz that appeared to be read and predicted by the defense.

JALEN RAMSEY CAN’T BE IGNORED

Jalen Ramsey didn’t seem to have a direct impact on the game in the first three quarters but that is usually the case for a defender whom the offense plans to avoid. However, starting quarterback Carson Wentz went out with an injury in the final phase of the game and Jacob Eason came in as the backup. Eason must have missed the memo about Jalen Ramsey because he made the mistake of throwing in Ramsey’s direction with the game on the line and the top ranked cornerback made him pay by grabbing his first interception of the season.

In all, it was another encouraging show from a group that had no live game action in the preseason and seems to be still warming up to early season potential. But at 2-0 and two impressive outings, the Rams look good, but will need that next level with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town in week three.
