Does it pay? Yes! We have contracted opportunities available and pay is set based on experience and availability.

Do I need experience? Not necessarily — some people are “naturals” — but familiarity with covering the news doesn’t hurt.

What can I do to gain more experience? One of the brilliant things about SB Nation is that we have Fanposts. As a matter of fact, back in the aughts I got started by writing Fanposts at multiple SB Nation websites and that’s how I became a writer. I didn’t learn anything about writing in college! It all came from blogs and Fanposts. In my experience as a site manager, I have ALWAYS sought to find talent in our Fanposts section because that’s how somebody once found ME. I highly implore and encourage you to WRITE A FANPOST before you apply, as I will be looking there first.

Write about what? I am here to encourage creativity and the freedom of choices, which includes the ability to write about what you want to write about and in the style that you believe best fits you. So the possibilities truly are endless! However, we do also need writers who can help us cover BREAKING NEWS, DAILY LINKS, and anything else that may be more about delivering information to our readers than it is about exploring creativity.

That being said, if you know how to break down film, if you make videos, if you have a podcast, if you are a genius with the Xs and the Os, if you have a dream to interview players, or anything of the like — that’s great too and we would love to have more brilliant football minds and those obsessed with the NFL to come join our team!
