The winner of this weeks game with the Los Angeles Rams against the Arizona Cardinals will be the clear leader of the NFC West division and retain an unbeaten record at 4-0. If the Rams come out victorious, we know the obvious names of the player of the game potentials, but who might be the surprise candidates for this weeks player of the game? Here are a few names to watch.

ROBERT WOODS

One of the first splash acquisitions of the Sean McVay era, Bobby Trees has always played an important role in the Rams offense since arriving in 2017. McVay often remarks on how he values Woods’ versatility and balanced game. Blocks and supporting routes in the passing game don’t show up on stat sheets but Woods has also had his share of big games with catches and long distance touchdowns. This could be one of those games. Since scoring with a highlight, top shelf, toe drag, touchdown in week one, Woods has been low profile in week two and three with Cooper Kupp and DeSean Jackson making the explosive plays. Look out for Woods to be overlooked and come up big in week four.

TERRELL LEWIS

Justin Hollins on the injured list is a tough loss for the Rams defense since Hollins was on a roll and seemed to be establishing himself opposite of Leonard Floyd on the edges. However, Lewis has been preparing for his turn and the fans have been waiting. Last week against the Buccaneers Lewis was in on 47% of the defensive snaps, hurried the passer twice, and made a highlight hit on Rob Gronkowski. He will be the one to fill in for Hollins and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a two sack game with blockers focused on Floyd, and Aaron Donald.

SONY MICHEL

Good news is Darrell Henderson Jr is cleared and expected to play which is why Michel as the player of the game would be more surprising. Michel had a productive game against the Buccaneers facilitating the moving of chains and the running of clock during the final phase of the week three victory. His longest gain was a 15 yarder. If Michel is indeed finding a rhythm and getting in sync with his new blocking crew, and if the snaps are split between him and Henderson, Henderson could be in position to punch a couple into the end zone but so could Michel. Especially if the game gets away from Arizona, Henderson might be rested some and Michel will benefit.

Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Aaron Donald are always the most likely to steal the spotlight. But these Rams are 3-0 and have NFL viewers excited because of how many weapons are on the roster and how well rounded they seem to be. So look out for the above listed players to show up as the surprise player of the game in the Rams vs Cardinals on Sunday.
