Los Angeles Rams News and Links for 11/17/23

The Los Angeles Rams made a move by waiving Zach VanValkenburg, but his career in the NFL seems far from over as the Rams then were able to add him to their practice squad. I am not going to pretend to know much about this player, but moves like this are exciting. This move, according to the article below, allowed the Rams to bring up Keir Thomas. So the team will get to see what Thomas and can. Maybe he and VanValkenburg will both wind up on the team together some game day (if they haven’t already).

Stranger things have happened.

Thank you for checking out today’s links and please have a safe and fun Friday!

Rams bring back OLB Zach VanValkenburg by signing him to practice squad (ramswire)

“The Los Angeles Rams made a tweak to their outside linebacker room this week by waiving Zach VanValkenburg and signing Keir Thomas to the active roster to take his place. As expected, VanValkenburg cleared waivers and the Rams didn’t waste any time bringing him back.

On Thursday, the Rams announced they’ve signed VanValkenburg to the practice squad. So essentially, Thomas and VanValkenburg flipped places.”

Carson Wentz Had ‘Whirlwind’ Week After Signing With Los Angeles Rams (si.com)

“Things happened really quickly last week. I don’t know if anybody knows, but we had a baby last Friday too,” Wentz said.

“I came down here on Wednesday, [took a] physical … signed … motored back home … by the grace of God my wife went into labor Thursday … had our third baby girl on Friday and turned right around on Sunday. So timing was great, though, I got to be there. It’s such a blessing. So it’s been a whirlwind trying to learn this playbook, learn this area, really learn everything.”

Tale of the Tape: Seahawks Have Much to Prove in LA (hawkblogger)

“It is rare that a 6-3 team enters a game against a 3-6 team that has lost three straight with basically even odds to win. Such is the reality when the Seahawks face the Rams. The narrative among Seahawks fans is that Sean McVay owns Pete Carroll. The reality is that Jeff Fisher did better considering the talent disparity. McVay has almost always had a major talent advantage, where Fisher was largely the opposite. Fisher tormented Carroll with special teams trick plays and an overwhelming pass rush. McVay has flummoxed Carroll with an offense that has rarely been slowed down and pass rush built around all-world defensive tackle, Aaron Donald.”
