The Los Angeles Rams take on the Arizona Cardinals in week three. Both teams are unbeaten. Both teams are bringing offensive and defensive weapons but only one team is bringing Aaron Donald.

Donald is on his way to surpassing the 100 sack mark which he could likely reach this season.

More on: Aaron Donald’s place among all time sack leaders

AD currently has 87.5 career sacks after adding one against the Chicago Bears in week one and adding one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in week three. That leaves 14 more regular season games to record 12.5 sacks in the march to 100. If AD averages one sack a game, we will witness the 100th this season.

The sack tour continues on Sunday against Kyler Murray and the Cardinals at SoFi Stadium. In the Sean McVay era, Donald has 8.5 sacks over eight games against the Cards, an average of just over a sack a game with his best outing being a three sack game in 2018.

This time around, the Cardinals will be protecting Murray from edge rushers Leonard Floyd, and Terrell Lewis, interior lineman A’shawn Robinson, Sebastian Joseph-Day, and Greg Gaines, at the same trying to assign double teams to the three time defensive player of the year. Interior linebackers Kenny Young and Troy Reeder have also been making plays in the backfield contributing sacks and pressures. Secondary defenders Taylor Rapp and Jalen Ramsey have also been part of the pass rush.

Donald has had three sacks in a game three times and four sacks in a game twice. If that happens again this season it will be a boost towards the 100 mark. Nonetheless we’ll keep track here on turf show times and every sack from the defense will be critical this week with the Rams vs the Cardinals on Sunday.
