Fresh faces for Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers

All week, expectations for the Ravens to activate rookie wide receiver Rashod Bateman to the active roster. At 4 p.m. ET, the Ravens made it official by doing so.

Along with Bateman comes two more moves to the active roster, including running back Le’Veon Bell and offensive lineman Tyre Phillips.

Phillips was placed on short-term injured reserve after suffering a knee injury against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1.

This is good news for the Ravens as they suffered numerous injuries to the offensive line, including left tackle Ronnie Stanley and guard Ben Cleveland, who was moved to injured reserve earlier this week.

The activation of Bell comes to further shroud the Ravens’ running situation in mystery. Though running back Ty’Son Williams has looked the part of the leading rusher for the team, it appears the coaching staff is taking a rotational approach, mixing in the full depth chart, including Latavius Murray, Devonta Freeman, Bell and Williams.

With the Ravens, Bell has played in one game and had four carries for 11 yards, good for 2.8 yards per carry. Williams has 31 carries for 170 yards and one touchdown, equating to 5.5 yards per carry. It will be interesting if the Ravens sideline Williams once again in favor of Bell and/or Freeman, will continuing to use Murray in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
