The Baltimore Ravens hired Mike Macdonald to be their new defensive coordinator, and introduced him in a press conference on Wednesday. He had many good things to say, including about his visions for the defense, his time at the University of Michigan and more.

When Macdonald was asked about inside linebacker Patrick Queen, the defensive coordinator went into a bit of detail about the player that he is. He also said that the second-year linebacker’s role is still up in the air and to be determined.

“I think it’s up in the air right now. We’re still early on. That will be a process that we’ll probably keep you up to date as it goes. But Patrick [Queen] is going to be successful no matter where he’s at. He’s a great player, he’s got a great skill set, he’s very smart, he’s still really young. So, he’s got a great career ahead of him.”

Macdonald coached Queen during his rookie season, as the now-defensive coordinator was the linebackers coach for the Ravens at the time. He knows the type of player that the linebacker is and can become, and Macdonald’s comment are a vote of confidence in Queen.
