Ravens DC Mike Macdonald stands by OLB David Ojabo despite injury-filled start to NFL career

The Baltimore Ravens were praised for landing another draft steal during the 2022 NFL draft when they selected David Ojabo in the second round at No. 45 overall. He had suffered a torn achilles during his University of Michigan Pro Day, which saw him slip out of the first round and into Baltimore’s lap.

Ojabo missed most of his first season, but returned to start the 2023 year and showed flashes of potential. However, he suffered a knee injury early in the season and it was revealed by head coach John Harbaugh that he suffered a partially torn ACL, knocking him out for the rest of the year. Despite the injury-filled start to his career, defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is still backing his outside linebacker.

“David [Ojabo] is going to be a great player in this league. He’s going to have a great career. Obviously, [I] feel for him [and] the way that his career has started. He’s dealing with adversity right now, so he needs our support, and he has it. But, he’s going to have a great career, and he’s going to recover, and he’ll be back ready to roll next year. I have full confidence in that.”
