The Baltimore Ravens have dealt with a plethora of injuries during the opening part of the 2021 season. This has forced the team to call players up from their practice squad more often than not, finding contributions from many new faces.

On Saturday, the Ravens announced that they have activated offensive tackle David Sharpe from the practice squad, calling him up to provide some depth on the offensive line, which has been a unit that has been depleted with ailments.

The move comes just four days after it was announced that left tackle Ronnie Stanley was placed on injured reserve after undergoing season-ending ankle surgery. The Ravens also placed offensive lineman Ben Cleveland on injured reserve following their Week 5 win against the Indianapolis Colts. Cleveland could return some time after the team’s bye.

Sharpe has veteran experience that he can bring to the Ravens’ offensive line, which has gotten somewhat thin after all of their injuries. Sharpe is in his sixth season in the league and most recently played for the Washington Football Team in 2020, playing in ten games and being on the field for 26% of offensive snaps. The “next man up” motto has always been a part of Baltimore’s organization, and it appears to be Sharpe’s turn to step up to the plate.
